Being intentional about our happiness and contentment comes down to our motivation to choose how we perceive life. Here are 18 statements to encourage intentional contentment in every space of the home – from the living room to the bathroom.
If we take time to not only acknowledge how lucky we are to have a home, but also the different ways that we are able to make the most of our space, we can choose to have a more contentment-focused experience when we use each room.
These spaces may not exist as individual rooms in your home (I know they don’t in mine).
What is an Intentional Contentment Statement?
Intentional contentment statements are like short meditative phrases that help us to feel appreciation for whatever they are directed towards (not quite magic, but close!).
In this case, I have gathered a list of 18 statements that we can use to help us feel appreciation for our home – whatever it’s size or style.
Use these statements to re-frame the way you experience each space. Here are three ways to use these thoughts/phrases:
- Walk into each space and say the phrases out loud as you make your way through your home. Do this on a regular basis if your mind tends to gravitate towards negative thoughts about where you live.
- Write down your favorite statement for each room and put it somewhere you can see to remind yourself daily to be intentional about changing your mindset.
- Use the growth statements to challenge yourself to change a space you don’t feel is supporting your intentional contentment.

Each room in a home has a purpose and we tend to dedicate certain spaces to accomplishing specific tasks. Instead of looking around and thinking of all the things we don’t have or don’t like, we can remind ourselves of the ways our home benefits us.

Spreading Contentment into Other Areas of Your Life
Feeling content about work, our relationships, and goals we are working towards requires us to be intentional about how we think. The internal conversation we have with ourselves on a daily basis matters. If we don’t like where we are at, we have to be intentional about making a plan and changing the pattern that is keeping us from making progress.
