Perfect Gift Ideas for Harry Potter Fans

A Harry Potter themed gift is always acceptable in my book (pun intended). If you are a Harry Potter person yourself, or you’re looking for a great gift idea for the HP fan in your life, I’ve got some ideas you might like. Here are seven Harry Potter items any fan would love to receive as a gift.

I just want to say before you read through this list that I am no way compensated for any purchases made.

I just love Harry Potter and know it can be tricky to come up with good gift ideas for nerds — especially if you aren’t one yourself. Enjoy!

Christmas or Birthday Gift Ideas for Harry Potter Nerds

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series and I love it when I receive thoughtful and HP-themed gifts from friends and family for Christmas or Birthdays.

Here are a bunch of the Harry Potter gifts that I have either received or would love to receive as a gift.

Hardcover Copies of the Books

When my husband and I first started dating, he bought me a hardcover set of all the Harry Potter books for Christmas. That sealed the deal right there. Not really. But honestly, I was so happy to have a pristine set to call my own.

I love that they came in a themed storage case — it keeps them together and safe. Check it out here.

Framed Harry Potter Posters

We have quite a few movie posters now, but some of the first framed posters I got were a gift. The posters themselves are really affordable, but when you put them in a frame as a gift, it takes it to a whole new level.

Investing in just a little nicer frame can even look pretty neat hung on the wall. (We plan to hang all of our favorite movie posters in a theater room someday!) Here are some fun posters to get you started.

A Harry Potter Fleece Blanket

Last year for Christmas, I received one of those DIY fringed fleece blankets from a friend as a gift. The best part is that the fleece has a Harry Potter pattern on one side. It’s cozy!

Plus someone made it for me, and that’s special in it’s own way. Check out these options for fun Harry Potter fabric you can order online.

Hogwarts Express Tervis Tumbler

Tervis tumblers are great for cold drinks that usually leave puddles from condensation. I love them for at home because they are plastic and durable, but I especially love the Harry Potter Tervis tumbler I have at work.

I got the 24 oz tumbler as a gift for Christmas and I have been using it to make sure I am drinking enough water throughout the day. It won’t spill and it won’t leave rings of water on my desk.

Check out the Platform 9¾ tumbler that I have and love.

Coffee Table Books

Coffee table books are great. The books you have sitting out can serve as both decor and share a little bit about your favorite things. I got a couple of the books by Jody Revenson that combine images from the movie sets, facts from the books, and gorgeous sketches by the film artists to give background about the Harry Potter creatures, characters, and places.

Here are all four book options: Creatures, Characters, Places, & Artifacts.

Magical Ornaments for the Christmas Tree

There are few things I love more than decorating the Christmas tree, and ornaments are most of what makes it so fun. My husband bought me a few of the Harry Potter ornaments from Hallmark last year and I can’t wait to get them out again.

Each year Hallmark releases a new ornament or two, but there are lots of really great handmade ornaments for sale online. Check out Etsy to see what individual artists have created, or stop by a Hallmark store to see what they’re showcasing this year.

Want to really experience some Harry Potter vibes at Christmas? Check out this incredible ASMR Harry Potter Christmas video. Throw it on the TV while you decorate your tree and sip some cocoa.

You won’t be disappointed. This specific YouTube channel has a million HP-themed ASMR rooms, so do a little exploring and really take it all in.

Harry Potter Old Fashioned Glasses

I don’t have any of these, but I do have pint glasses for each of the Hogwarts houses. Double old fashioned glasses are a household staple in Wisconsin — but they are fun to have regardless of where you live.

Get a set for the Harry Potter fan in your life and give them some classy conversation starters for when they serve drinks. The only ones I’ve seen are available from the official Harry Potter store. Check them out here.

Update: I bought a couple of these to give as gifts when we went to Harry Potter World in Orlando. They loved them!

Nerdy Gift Giving Advice: Quality Over Quantity

When it comes to collecting nerdy things, some fans love anything and everything that represents their fandom, regardless of quality. However, if the HP person in your life is anything like me, it’s best to consider how they will display or use the gift.

If you’re giving a Harry Potter nerd a themed gift, try to focus on quality over quantity. You might not be able to afford to spend a ton, but erring on the side of useful is a good way to choose between the less expensive options.

For example, there are Harry Potter themed kitchen utensils galore, but a fan is more likely to love and use an oven mitt or bowl cozy than cookie stamps. All are super fun, but how often does anyone really use cookie stamps?
